Memory Silks

I love the idea of loving and keeping  beautiful things for as long as possible. A close friend gave me some flowers in memory of my mum.

I wanted them to live on and decided to try and make some printed silks. I waited till they were almost gone over and dried and crumpled the petals. I collected cuttings from the garden. That’s where the story began…

Rose petals ~ Lavender ~ eucalyptus ~ Heathers & Sage

Rolled together and tied tightly with cotton. The bundle was steamed for hours and dipped in the boiling water and left to cool over night.

After a few days drying excitement takes over and it’s time to unwrap the silk and see what nature left behind.

I am now hooked and collecting every petal and leaf I find.

This would be a lovely idea for wedding flowers

The start of a love affair  ♡
