A little bit about me
I live in Lincolnshire with my husband Michael, son Kyle & Bertie the dog. My heart wishes to live in the highlands of Scotland among the small coastal towns my husband comes from. At this moment in time regular visits have to fill the longing. I have a passion for interior design, textiles, vintage and art. I am at my happiest working away in my little studio. Hours could easily turn into days. I love botanical hand dying, vintage finds, recycling objects, buttons, brown paper, string, old traditions and a wabi ~ sabi way of life.
A little bit about what I make
I first hand dyed whilst at school in my sewing class. I found it fascinating that cooking up leaves and pine cones could produce such beautiful colours. Thats where the love affair began. All my silks are uniquely made is small batches. I only use plants, barks, nuts, seeds and vegetables. I try to forage or grow as much as possible. I need to be able to offer a regular supply of colours in my shop so I do use some sustainable ethically sourced materials. Nature gives the most beautiful shades. Age old techniques and time let the magic happen. Each batch is a little different and may have small natural markings and imperfections that happens during the dying process. Plants materials vary from season to season so slight variation in colours do occur. I don’t use any harsh chemicals to totally fix the dyes just natural mordents. Over time the colours may fade a little ~ it’s a natural product so ages just like us.
I sell through my Etsy shop and I am always happy to hear from you or make bespoke orders just get in touch.
